THE WILD ATLANTIC WAY
A marketing ploy by an advertising agency working for the Irish tourist board had the genius or disastrous idea (*) to regroup and rename all the Irish Western Coastal roads under the catchy title, “The Wild Atlantic Way.”
Up to then, if you were, let's say in the ring of Kerry it was very simple. You knew you were in the ring of Kerry and were satisfied with that.
You are still on the ring of Kerry, but you are now part of the throngs of visitors who flocked to travel “the Wild Atlantic Way,”
You are no longer a visitor on an individual quest, but a part of a tribe who answered the call of the advertising ploy and are being herded, here or there, by clever wavy blue and white signposts...
(*) genius or disaster, depends what side of the fence you are on.
This is a selection of pictures, mainly taken on the Western seaboard, on my various photo shoots ,covering all kind of topics, over thirty years or so.
Come with me, have a wee holiday on the Wild Atlantic Way.
